Stuff I've learnt - III
Note - In some sense, I had an extended identity crisis. And suddenly things seemed very simple and natural. Along the way, I learnt (and am learning) some really good stuff. These things work for me. The way I’ve listed them, it might sound like I’m ‘preaching’ this to someone else; please view this as more of a self-talk to myself.
1) It's very useful to get to know and interact with people who you think are very different from you. Only then do you realize that, he/she is infact so much more similar than dissimilar to you.
2) When you've spent years learning something, make sure you don't lose touch with it.
3) Don't look down upon those who aren't comfortable in English. Its just another language, perhaps not even the most expressive one.It is also by no means an indicator of someone's thinking ability.
4) Every person has an intrinsic value, that does not depend on the skills he/she posesses. Be grateful for the exposure you have been fortunate to get in developing your skills, and treat others with respect irrespective of whatever skills they posess.
5) Don't take pride in being 'self-taught' at anything. If you are a dancer, even your perception of what constitutes exceptional dancing is shaped by the inspiring performances you've witnessed.
6) When nothing seems to work, turn to humour.
7) If you run out of shaving cream, toothpaste is not a good substitute.
8)Any application of oil on my head, causes it flow downstream to my forehead, giving it a glossy look that glamour magazines strive so hard to achieve.

Karthik, I stumbled upon your blogs. This one did not have any comment and I thought let me be the first one! When nothing works, turn to humour. And immediately you say toothpaste is not a substitute to shaving cream! What a humour! Pl go on!
