Weekend musings
1) I was thrilled to bump into an old friend of mine today! Satish was doing his Mtech in computational science, just when I was doing mine in Electronic design. We had dipped our fingers in the world of embedded systems, and had written a simple real time operating system together for a course project. Satish subsequently joined a start-up, and after a while, moved on to another one. This second firm has grown in a big way, and he is doing brilliantly well !:-)
2) I don't know if I have written about his before; I have played for a rock band once! I haven't heard too much 'English music'; I quite like soft rock, pop, and country music, but have never enjoyed hard rock, and hence have stayed away from playing for rock bands. This particular band had committed to play at a certain venue, and their keyboardist had pulled out for some reason three days before the show. These guys persuaded me to join them, and we practised 18 songs in three days! Finally, it turned out to be funniest(as usual, in retrospect) show I've played in, with equal amounts of drama and music happening on stage !:-)
All this comes to my mind now since, Rhythmica, the IISc music group will be putting up a show today! It has been such a long time since I last played with them that I don't even know half the people in the group now :-) Here is wishing them all the best for the show!
3) Which word do you find most difficult to pronounce ? For me, it is 'itinerary' ! I just pronounce it as 'itenary' , and most people don't seem to notice the difference :-)
4) It just struck me that most people who read this blog are people I have never met ! Somehow, it just seems incredible! Thanks to all my kind readers :-)

Itinerary is the hardest word for me pronounce as well. And my husband tells me that Indians usually interchange the phonetics of "v" and "w"... calling water - "vater", and vegetable - "wegetable" :). So I've realized that consciously correcting these pronunciations is really hard!
Neeraja, that is some coincidence !:-) I was thinking about your husband's observation, and it is very true :-)Sometimes, it is nice to leave the pronounciations uncorrected !:-)
Bumping into old friends when least expected and learning all is well is such a nice feeling.
All the best for the performance.
I find it hard to pronounce words with repeated r and l, like lorry and roadroller.
Thank you for writing so well.
Rafiki - Ya, its always to meet old friends when least expected. I wasn't a part of the show! Thanks :-) I think my writing has a long way to go !
The "itinerary" thing made me smile :-) Yes, me too.
