Perspective
I've just read the first few pages of Anne Frank's diary. In a strange way, I feel mildly guilty to be reading it for I am not sure if she intended for it to be read by everyone. And it really should be called 'The Diary of a young woman', for thirteen years old as she may have been then, her though processes belie her age. I will more to say when I am done with the book, but I think books like this offer perspective, and remind us to count our blessings, for, I really think that most of us do lead a privileged existence, whether or not we acknowledge it. At this point, I am tempted to ramble on about 'mental models', a notion that I got introduced to rather recently, but I will reserve that for another post.

I felt the same way about the book- especially because I read it at 13 and kept comparing it to someone reading what I wrote back then! On a related, happier note- there's a book by her friend (Lies?) who Anne thinks died, but survives and meets Anne again later.. do check it out if you like this one :)
Secondsight - Thanks for the pointer! :) Will keep an eye out for the book.
