Random Thoughts

1) I recently read 'AR Rahman, the spirit of music' by Nasreen Kabir. Its in the form of biographical conversations between the writer and Rahman. Rahman comes across as a genuinely likeable person, driven strongly by humanitarian instincts, who treats all his colleagues and associates as friends. It is indeed truly remarkable - the long way that he has come from his humble beginnings, and the genuineness he continues to retain despite his long association with the film industry, infamous for the attention-seeking and pretentious people it abounds with. It was a nice read, though I felt the writer has wasted a golden opportunity by asking only the most obvious questions. Nevertheless, worth a read for anyone who really enjoys his music.

2) If I had written a post on my cooking skills a few years back, I would've probably had to place it in the 'one-liners' category. While I'm still pretty far from calling myself a decent cook, I'm making progress. My Dosas look more and more circular with each passing day, and hopefully there soon will come a day when they will be used as exhibits in a geometry class :-)

3) If you met a wise man from a magical land, and you could ask him three questions, and you also knew that he would give accurate answers to any question that you asked him, what would they be ? Give it some thought. You needn't share your questions :-) As much as I would be tempted, I wouldn't ask him anything about my future :-) Interestingly, Freeman Dyson's nine year old daughter asked him this question.

"Dosas... as exhibits in a geometry class" - That put a smile on my face :-)

"Give it some thought. You needn't share your questions :-)" - nice, I like the way "questions" are actually "answers" in this sentence :-)

Thanks Meenakshi :-) Nice thought on your part about questions being answers here :-)Actually nothing new in the question, but I was amazed that a nine year old would wonder about such things !:-)

You know, one's cooking can't be judged by the shape of the dish :). I am sure your dosa tastes really good!
Regarding the questions, I myself will ask the cliched ones - How was the Universe created? What is the purpose of human beings? What comes after death? :)
If Dyson's little daughter asked such similar questions, I'm blown away!

That's true Neeraja :-) My Dosas taste fine ( usually :-) Thanks for sharing your questions ! I haven't finalized mine:-) I don't remember Dyson mentioning his daughter's questions. Curiously, I found this in an interesting compilation titled 'More reflections on the meaning of life' .
