Kungfu Panda turns Harry Potter ?

I finally did watch Kungfu-Panda 2 ! While I enjoyed watching it, I have to say I enjoyed the first part even more. Some of the rapid sequences in 3D left me feeling a little dizzy, and I thought the producers were trying too hard to showcase all the awesomeness ! I would've liked the tone overall to be a little more measured, and I really was hoping to see more of Master Oogway, perhaps in flashback mode. But I definitely have to give it to them for the incredible attention to detail in each frame!

While I am a reasonably articulate person, I've realized that I'm quite bad at narrating movie storylines to others. I've observed that I have a tendency to describe almost all stories this way - " Hero came. Villian came. They fought. Hero won.Villian went to jail. ". This insightful description usually receives a thumbs up and an understanding nod from most guys, though some self-proclaimed intellectuals will insist that the story is 'multi-layered', with deft touches and subtle nuances that philistines such as ourselves, who are not as discerning as them can't hope to perceive. Members of the fairer sex are rarely impressed by my description.

My sister on the other hand, has a near photographic memory for the visual medium. Months after watching an insipid movie, she can tell me the story frame by frame, effortlessly making it seem like a thriller, leaving me on the edge of the seat! I think story-telling is a wonderful art form and hopefully I'll get better at it someday :-)

Glad I have company! Yeah, it felt like they were trying too hard. And although a light animation, I still couldn't reconcile the ease with which Po finds inner peace... would have been more befitting in the supposed sequels! :)

Yes, story-telling is an art, but it is a greater skill to cut through all the details and layers and find the simplified essence! :)

Neeraja- Ya, I too felt that. After a brief period of angst, Po seemed to find instant inner peace :-) Simplified essence does have its value, but I'm not sure its a greater skill !:-) Unless the movie happens to be extremely complex :-)
