Three things I want to learn !
I have always been one of those people, who, upon encountering something fascinating, immediately want to explore and learn more about it. Needless to say, as a result of this, the focus tends to get diluted. More recently, I've learnt that its better to focus on one thing at time, get comfortable with it, and then experiment with something else. The following are currently on my list, though I still don't know when I'll eventually get to them :-)
1) Dancing - I did a two-month course on free-style dancing a couple of years ago! Yet, I am far from calling myself a good dancer! And I have to admit that I took liberties in interpreting the term 'free style':-) But to be fair, I haven't really given it much time, and want to be able to do atleast do a couple of steps when the occasion calls for it!
2)Triz - Triz(Theory of Inventive problem solving) is a method of systematic innovation developed by Genrich Altshuller. Altshuller studied about 40,000 patents looking for patterns of thought that lead to inventive thinking. The whole idea that creativity can be approached in a systematic way, where we are not forced to rely purely on inspiration, may seem strange to many. Triz is unfortunately not very well known outside of Russia, but my guess is that it will become very popular in India in a decade from now.
3) Cartoon drawing- I have long held ambitions of starting a cartoon strip! ;-) I am not too bad at drawing, but I can only copy out stuff. I can't draw purely from imagination! Thankfully cartoon-strips are possible with simple illustrations! I am planning on getting the excellent 'The Animator's survival kit' by Richard Williams to get myself started!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll make the time and effort to pursue them :).
I have always been interested in Cartoon drawing too! But I'm not very good at sketching, so I please myself by watching artists sketch. Amazing to see them at work :)
Triz sounds extremely interesting! I actually did a project/literature review to understand if creativity can be simulated in an intelligent computer agent. I wish I'd come across this two years back!
Thanks for the encouragement Neeraja ! Exactly ! Its amazing to watch skilled artists sketch!:-)
Interesting...What's your area of research?
Triz sounds interesting. Should get hold of a book to read about it.
Free-style dancing is that similar to street dancing/hip-hop?
All the best with all of these. I want to learn knitting.
Actually free-style supposedly means that the dance moves are not thought out in advance, and the dancer is free to make up the steps as he/she goes:-) So it can apply to most dance forms, but what I learnt was close to bollywood dancing:-) All the best with knitting!
Oh nice. SO when do we get to see a video of you dancing free style on music you have composed? :)
:-)Not in the next fifty years! The dancing will do more damage than what the music can compensate for! For now, I'll stick to dancing to other people's tunes:-)
