Some Random thoughts
1) I'm going to try an experiment over the next week. I will check my mail exactly once a day. Given the number of mails I get, I don't expect a calamity.
2)At the age of 9. one of my friends showed my his latest literary masterpiece, clearly inspired by Tom and Jerry-
"There was a cat
who lived in a flat
the cat saw a rat
hiding under a mat
the cat ran fast
to chase the rat
the rat found a bat
with which he hit the cat
the cat fell flat"
Barring a brief dip in standards in line five( no doubt due to a bout of the infamous writer's block), this was supreme stuff in my opinion. Six months later, my friends showed me his more recent work. It suffices to say that he had progressed from 'Cat in the flat' to 'Mouse in the house'.
No doubt these early influences have a role to play in the touch of silliness in my own poems.Sometimes, I lament my own inability to appreciate serious poetry. But given that most serious poems are supposedly depressing, perhaps it is as well that I can't appreciate them.
3) I recently heard 'Hey Mr Tambourine man' by Bob Dylan. I love the song, except for Dylan's nasal voice. I really wish someone else had sung it.
