Ramblings - I

The 'I' of course signifies that more of it is going to come soon. The 'Ramblings' posts will probably bore you as I shall go into obscure details of my life that might not be interesting.(even to me:)

I am often very indecisive and it is a source of immense amusement at some times, and utter frustration at other times to all my friends and family.I must admit that both these reactions are perfectly justified more often that not.I was just wondering about the cause of my indecision and I decided (needless to say, with great difficulty ) that the key thoughts that go on in my mind at these times are :

1)Decisions should be made after a logical thought process.
2)Every possibility must be given a fair chance.

At some point , I decided that i'm gonna be real quick with my decisions and settle on the 'first thing' that comes to my mind. That of course did not work as it violated the second rule that seems to have been hard-coded into my head since stone age.

I've anyhow progressed a good deal since then .I have heard from reliable sources that it helps to be able to politely say 'No' in 17 languages.Am working on that one.

Hi Kartya,
Sorry I had to just flip through this blog the last time I came here, but then, it was 4 am then :)
Haven't heard from you in quite a while, whats up? Any more bumps on a metal foil on plastic discs of your latest creations coming up?
Hmmm ... not sure whether the first thought policy voilates the second point. There is too much unknown about the human mind to say so.
Keep in touch.

Isnt it amazing how some people can pull off decisions that satisfy both rules 1 and 2 and yet do it in seconds?
I for one, struggle with the same malaise you complain of. In fact, i am more often than not happy to parry off the decision making to the person next to me. A fear of the consequences of a wrong decision often shadows any decision making process in my mind.
I suspect that not worrying about the consequences but thinking of the merit of the decision will ease things out....dunno....seems so simple when i actually dont need to decide anything :)...

hmm... not sure what to say. Fortunately or unfortunately, I am not the kind of person who spends too much time on a decision.

All I can say to you is that some decisions have the black & the white, the good & the bad clearly demarkated. Other decisions lie in the grey tone domain (and of course as luck would have it, these are the most important decisions of life). The first one is easy, the second one can be made relatively easy by use of probabilty (or something like it ;-).

Afterall as Einstein once said "Life is a game of dice"

Kunal , it's definitely fortunate that you don't spend much time on a decision.I am much like my namesake,Karthik, often looking for a person who can quickly decide for me !
